The University of Tartu recognised entrepreneurial researchers

The University of Tartu recognised its researchers, who made a major contribution to the development of an entrepreneurial university. The title of entrepreneurial researcher went to Professor Tambet Teesalu a visiting professor of Cancer Research Group and the Institute of Oceanology and Fisheries of the University of Tartu Professor Toomas Saat.

Professor Tambet Teesalu has been actively involved in the development of cancer medicine and has been working effectively with the business community.
Professor Toomas Saat has entered into entrepreneurial agreements related to environmental research as a result of his research.

The volume of entrepreneurial co-operation of the University of Tartu has been significantly influenced by the 2016 Applied research in smart specialisation growth areas (NUTIKAS) funding, through which 21 projects were funded by Archimedes Foundation in 2016 and 2017. Of these, 11 are implemented in cooperation with the University of Tartu. In 2017, the University of Tartu concluded research and development contracts worth 2.2 million euros under this measure.
